Yeaa Windows 7 updates were a pain for fresh installers and its much improved in w10 imo. I had a similar problem when I upgraded to Windows 10 with the brightness and fn keys not working but then I just reinstalled the drivers for them and bam.

Sorry to hear about your problems tho but thats what happens when one OS is king.
