With the upcoming NEO and Scorpio consoles on the horizon I say that reviewers should always review the standard X1/PS4 copy of the game. Obviously if their is a signicicant difference between the Base model and the upgraded console version graphic or frame rate wise publishers will likely try to push out review copies with a catch of reviewing on the newest hardware as leverage or you won't recieve a pre-release copy to review.

I think the review sites should always stick to reviewing on the hardware that existed from the start of the generation and if they need to add in notes at the end the technical side of what to expect from the higher spec version or if they mention about frame dips etc in the review people playing on the higher spec console can take note that they would likely not have the frame dips etc.

Not all reviewers detail graphics and technical sides in a review of a game but I still feel it should be played and reviewed on the baseline hardware.

Is it just me who thinks this? Opinions?
