I totally agree with you're saying; taking Zelda, throwing out so much of the old stuff and replacing that, it takes guts! It's very forward thinking, but lets not forget that Zelda (and Nintendo) is playing catch up right now. A lot of the mechanincs we've seen before, in games like Skyrim and Far Cry, so this is nothing new. However, true to themselves, Nintendo has really put a spinn on them! Climbing ads a new dimension so exploration, throwing swords is a cool idea, and I love that hunting finally means something!

While a lot of its new features aren't world firsts by any means, I still feel that the thoughtful and creative way that they're implemented and woven together really creates a refreshing and novel evolution of the series. We may have seen some of these things before, but never quite like this.

I agree.  A lot of the new features feel like there was definite thought put into them and weren't implemented just to fill some kind of arbitrary checklist on what should be in an open-world game like a lot of developers are guilty of doing.
