I watched the conference and was not confused. I am excited for the new Xbox Slim and the possibilities of Scorpio.
Most (educated) buyers/gamers will research before they make a purchase, especially an expensive one. Average consumers will see a $299 Xbox Slim or discounted $270/$250 original Xbox One, $299 PS4 (most likely) this holiday and make a decision based on pricing and game libraries, friends, and so on. Unlike us they probably do not even care or know about the upcoming mid-gen upgrades or the new Nintendo console because there is little to no info.
The sad part is if people start researching or google info about the upcoming consoles they will be directed to forums and gaming site where we constantly bicker based on bias or mixed loyalties. No real info or pricing will even be available until later next year.
I am trading my current Xbox One in for a Slim because I have an awesome 4k tv and the slim is the cheapest 4K BR player on the market that also up-scales, plays my games, and uses my controllers.
Scorpio, Neo and NX specs/pricing will determine my interest and possible purchases in the future.
