I gotta say though, am I the only one not loving the music? And I'm not talking about the lack of BGM, I'm talking that trailer music. It has atmosphere to it, sure, but I can't remember it 2 minutes after I watch the trailer. It felt kinda... lackluster. As did SS soundtrack, and I don't want that for a Zelda game. Zelda has alsways had memorable music, hell, OoT even had music as it's core mechanic.

They are definitely taking cues from Skyrim with regards to the big music pieces.   The trailer theme seems more intended to blend in with the rest of the environment as a part of the ambience as opposed to older Zelda games where they were more like standalone tracks that played while you were playing with clearly defined tunes and repeated segments.

Personally, I don't mind cause I am a huge fan of that kind of use of music as a means of enriching the world environment without overly asserting itself.  And that approach fits with the game world well I think, this world that is above all else promoting a sense of stillness in many environments.

And I like Skyward Sword's music too for similar reasons (and cause the sky theme is just awesome)

But for people more accustomed to or more of a fan of the older approach to game music as more of an independent, freestanding composition, I can see how this may not sit as well with them.

I like the music in Skyrim, but except for the intro song it's not nearly as memorable as Zelda's music. I've come to expect great music from Zelda, which is why SS music was such a let down, but hopefully we'll get some kick ass songs every now and then in BOTW as well! Maybe during boss fights or something? Or in dungeons?
