Pretty convinced that it's the Adult Link timeline. You mention that the world isn't flooded. Here's the thing... during one of the Nintendo streamed bits, someone picked up "Rock Salt". The description mentioned "Crystallized salt from the ancient sea". Ancient sea? On a plateau? This might be set long after Wind Waker. It's implied in Wind Waker that WW Link isn't the same soul as previous Links, that he has to earn the right to the Triforce of courage. Perhaps this is the original Link soul in the Adult Link timeline? Also note that they've been saying there are no towns in BotW. This would make sense if it takes place in old Hyrule in a future well beyond the events of Wind Waker, when the Great Sea has drained. Also consider the connection between wind and breath. Notice that most of the enemies, etc, are from the Wind Waker line. In addition to the Koroks, there are Bokoblins, which were introduced in Wind Waker. Chu Jelly was also introduced in Wind Waker. Something to think about - the Old Man could possibly be Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule. |
I like your theory, but the lack of water does raise a big question.
Also, Ganon was never referred by that name in this timeline i believe, he is known by his humam name/form, Ganondorf.
Finally, the image we believe to be from Hyrule Castle would be missing the Tower of the Gods.
