I do believe trash talking is an art and I don't see anything wrong with it.
If done right it can actually help you beat your friends in Mario Kart, intimidate your opponent prior to a real life boxing match or even win you the presidency of the United States.
Its always a valid tool and its up to you if you want to use it or not... Now back to the subject: E3
I guess we are all aware of the recent declarations made by Phil Spencer regarding their competitors aka: Sony. Not providing their game announcements with release dates while his team was actually able to provide release dates for their games:
CrackDown 3
Dead Rising 4
Forza Horizon 3
Gears of War 4
Recore
Sea of Thieves
“When I watch the other platforms, it’s not always clear to me when the games are shipping or how many of them are shipping this year.”
Does Phil Understand that E3 is about announcements and not about running a huge advertisement for games already announced in 2015?
Lets take Sony for example, they have around 4 times more games for the second half of 2016 than Microsoft and instead of taking the easy route of duplicating the same E3 they had in 2015, they decided to show new games.
Please find the PS4's lineup for the second half of 2016 below as a reference.
Boundless
Drawn to Death
Dreams (The Non VR version)
Fairy Fencer F: Advent Dark Froce
God Eater 2: Rage Burst
God Eater Resurrection
Gran Turismo Sport
Gravity Rush 2
Hellblade
I Am Setsuna
Let it Die
Nier Automata
Nioh
No Man's Sky
Paragon
Persona 5 (Japanesse Import)
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Sword Art Onine Hollow Realization
The Last Guardian
The Tomorrow Children
What Remains of Edith Finch
World of Final Fantasy
Important: I decided not to include VR games, since the XB1 does not support native VR at the moment. And it wouldn't be fair for Microsoft.
But even if Sony decided to push %50 of these titles into 2017. The PS4 will still have twice as many games than the XB1. Let that sink in.
I don't understand what Phil Spencer is trying to accomplish by trash talking a competitor that clearly has him covered.
To wrap up, my question is simple:
Do you believe Phil managed to steal a page from Sony's book by trash talking their closest competitor in an efficient way?
-or-
Do you sense desperation?
