MS is thinking like a software seller will do, they have now 2 systems and one store to sell their games. Now they will be focusing in price and/or power regard the hardware, and not generations, or exclusive content. I think their plan is also compete with the stores of Android and iOS selling smaller games that cellphones can run.

The more machines have their store, the better, and are confident that the cummulative library of games over time (that's why BC, and the adopton of W10 as OS of Xbox) will give them a selling point.

Only time will tell us if that approach will make it or not, but right now of course Microsoft have exclusives, and a promising future in front of them.
