I don't know where people get the idea that the specifications of a console can simply be modified on the fly with release approaching.

Sony has a comfortable lead and won't be relinquishing it, but that doesn't mean Microsoft can't cut into it as time goes on.

Have you never tried to overclock a CPU or GPU on a PC?

Same thing there, even if the "chip" and board are made already.

All you have to do is just put a bigger cooling unit on it, and overclock it.

This doesnt require any changes to the SoC or chip.

Microsoft did the same thing with the Xbox One, when they found out their unit was weaker.

However they didnt change the cooling system, so instead they just did a tiny overclock, and accepted it would be abit more noisy.

Neo is still far enough away that you can make changes to clock speeds, and not have it effect the end product in a negative way.
