Because it fits well into Microsoft's portfolio. They are a company that is more than just gaming you know, they have multiple segments targeting business, this augments that.
Plus they need to diversify, so if one business segment tanks, hopefully it doens't bring the whole company downwards, then they will still be able to sweet talk investors.
