The PS3 is the most durable console and won't hit the waste belt the coming decade, it will have so many games on scratchless durable Blu-Ray disc, it's likely most users will have the console repaired instead of throwing the console away with the trash, probably never (you could sell it for spare parts if unrepairable). 
Best advise I read so far: "But now that you know what goes into these consoles, it’s probably wise that you don’t lick, snort or otherwise eat them. And please, please don’t take them to bed with you." LOL
