Is Microsft about to dominate the console market next year?

I get the feeling Sony will just follow suit, they have the advantage, a sales buffer and PS4 still has the momentum. I imagine it makes sense for developers as well if these two systems are close in terms of spec.

I respect MS for coming out and doing it in the way they did, Sony's statement kinda felt a bit rushed and non-committal. MS know that they could lose potential sales by pre-warning people that a better system is coming and actually giving an indicator of how much more powerful, but they're being up front. I doubt it'll shift anything though, we'll see what they can do with price.
