I don't think it really needs to compete with the two, considering the Neo and Scorpio still both have to run 8th gen games, just possibly slightly prettier depending on the developers. The casual crowd is going to get lost on the upgrades, unless 4K magically becomes the standard in a year. It sort of just screams the awkward, forced 3DTV push Sony made back in like 2009, except with a full hardware boost to boot.
