Actually, such a scenario could be a nice single player mission where you know that there are terrible things waiting to happen to you and you try to stay alive and save the crew too. Maybe there are some hints (or misdirections) in dreams you have prior to the mission (in game these would be either videos or interractive abstract dreamy puzzle solving minilevels for example).

You don't have to be the fastest red shirt wearing runner in VR. Just faster than your three friends playing coop!  Upgrading your tripping skill helps overall survival while on the run, lol.
