We technically wouldn't have a choice. The NATO stipulates that any attack on NATO soil calls upon all NATO partners to aid the attacked country (which is a mechanism several countries have exploited already).

So technically, we would be obliged to turn the NATO against one of it's chief creators if it were to attack Canada.

Unfortunately, art. 5 of the NATO Treaty isn't what most people think it is. It's very lenient and open to interpretation. Sadly so.
