I just watched it again, don't see what Giroud did wrong. He went for the ball, not for the goalkeeper and it was outside the 6 yard box.

It doesn't matter if it was in the box or not. His elbow went for the keeper's arms first, which caused the keeper to miss the ball. How can you say it was the keeper's error?
