Yes that is middle class in my eyes. It is well above the median income for an individual worker in the U.S. What others have said is true though, if you are making that much in NYC or LA you will have to be quite frugal to live well. While if you make that much in a medium sized city, low cost suburban area, or rural area you'd live quite well. $50,000 /year in my city (Pittsburgh) can go a long way. The lines between classes have blurred though, and social class based on wealth was never really a thing in the U.S besides a few regional cases in certain time periods.
