If exclusive software is selling well and many people are using the marketplace, then its worth supporting (its viable).

Windows Store doesn't need to sell games at the same level of Steam to be viable, something many of you don't understand. Also, the Windows Store makes money on others things like apps, music, movies, and TV shows.

MS making its games exclusive to WIndows is an incentive to sticking with WIndows. That allows people to enjoy MS 1st party and Valve games on Windows. Therefore, less reaons to move to Linux or Mac. Valve has encouraged more developers to support Linux but its not working out.

Honestly you could look at those QB WIn 10 store numbers and call them amazing any time of day but that doesn't really tell us how well it's doing. It's easy for me to sell something at my shop that only I sell, I sold 20 of them and I could go on all day saying how amazing it was that I sold 20 of something from my own store without any sort of direct comparison to soemthing else that is similar being sold by another store.

By same level I'm going to assume you mean price point and not volume of games because honestly both have gone a long way for Valve and the competition has hardly gone with either of those tactics. Origin and Uplay are entirely viable but that doesn't mean they are amazing or anything head and shoulders above Steam, Steam is at the top for valid reasons, reasons that it's competion have yet to fully understand  themselves, something some of you folk don't seem to want to understand.

Also Valve aren't making money just off of games either so we can throw out the one trick pony idea, still MS has more hands and more money which could easily lend focus to where it should count but I digress.

MS doing what it;s doing isn't really working out as much as they hoped it would, see I don't like sticking to just one of everything, that's what megacorps like MS would dream of every waking day, to be loyal and forever attached to a single brand with no desire to go anywhere else, what you desribe is the sole dream of any big company on the sixe of MS, Apple etc. MS has encouraged people to move over to just being on 10, 10 store and DX 12 and that doesn't seem to be working out either, before you say diffeerent, just know that there are 7 billion of us on this rock before throwing around numbers, plenty of users still sporting 7-8-8.1 Linux and Mac OS out there that aren't under the one OS, one store design.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
