Well, I was trying to get tickets at my local theatre in Toronto, and the way it went was, first the tickets were available, then the waiting list was the only option, and then the waiting list option disappeared. So if you don't see the waiting list, then even the waiting list filled up.
When you're on the waiting list, you need to show a copy of the email receipt plus proof of I.D. and they let you in on a first come, first serve basis.
