It's hard to say because so often the complete story is not reported via news. Once it goes to trial we might learn there was more to this than him just standing in the hall way. Maybe his wife was in the hall? Maybe the man was in the hall still trying to force entry? Maybe the man attacked the husband when he realized who he was, as in the husband announcing get away from my wife? Who knows what the full details are.
The article states this was not a good man who was attempting rape. He has many prior arrests.
