There are strong cases to be made for Ovechkin, Thornton, and Iginla, but unfortunately they've all been on the cover recently.

Of course, I vote for Evgeni Malkin, but Datsyuk and Lidstrom for Detroit would be good choices as well. Kovalchuk, Gaborik, and Kovalev also come to mind.

NHL 2K9 chose Rick Nash, who definitely would not have been on my list. Good player, but not exactly a star.

I remember Ovechkin was 07, and Iginla was 2003, but I can't quite place Thornton......what year was he?

Evgeni Malkin is a great choice, and there's always Crosby of course.
I would like Lidstrom to grace the cover though. He's such a classy player, and so dependable.
