Maybe the husband just hit him with a lucky punch- not intending to kill him but woops caught him just right and put the rabid animal/rapist out of his misery and sure;y saving future victims from said rapist -  alls well that ends well

If he had no intention to kill, it is manslaughter. If he had intention to kill, it's murder. This must be proven in court of law. Self defence does not include killing people unless the guilty have every intention to killing you. If the law was clouded with emotions/religion, all punishment will be done unjustly.
