Your opinion seems just as unfair as the person you replied too. You can't blame the west for the problems in Africa, especially since colonialism effectively ended in most of the continent over 1/2 a century ago. And maybe the people wouldn't be drowning if they didn't cross the sea in the first place... |
i didn't blame the west for the problems in africa as a whole, i specifically mentioned this very defined problem of the refugees. there were governments in place that prevented such civil wars from happening, we might not like the people heading those governments but if someone wants to change them it should be their own people. there was no reason to have wars in iraq and afghanistan in the first place, and there was no way to 'spread democracy' by force.
but i will save some blame too in a big way to the US government for supporting saudi arabia and their regime to spread wahabi islam during the cold war to fight the "godless" commies. that was the main source of the dominionist strain of islam spread out through the world.
everything happens for a reason, its our task to understand it in order not ro repeat the same mistakes.
now in my oppinion the solution to this shit will have to involve literally take back the occupied territories from daesh and once things settle down get the millions of people to return to their homes. one way or another it won't be pretty
