Noticing this story pop up all over the place, and yea, the mom in this scenario was not a good parent at all, and was a complete moron.

It really sucks that the gorilla died too, they could've used non-lethal methods.

This whole event happening was a tragedy indeed.

But I think the Zoo authority did the right thing - considering shooting a tranqualizer doesnt necessarily guarantee the ape would have been instantly knocked out. Infact it would have enraged it more before it would pass out from the effects of the tranqualizer.

If the ape would have killed the child - I'm pretty sure the ape would have been put down one way or another afterwards and this whole case would have blown up a whole lot more than it is now to the point where the Zoo would have been affected by a possible family lawsuit.

Though the mother was a shitty mother - like how the hell do you lose grip/sight of your child especially in a area like that? I agree to those saying charges should be made against the family for the cost of the ape.

Considering the animal in question is fairly intelligent, I don't think it would have been unreasonable to attempt to approach the gorilla, or distract him, as shown in another video in the thread.
