Well, I dont know, but sometimes they dont.I personally only got my first phone at age 15.

But most importantly, as a parent you would want all contacts you can have to maximize the safety of your child. What if the battery of your son phone ended?Or if he lost the phone?Or he is so entertained with his friend and dosent pick the phone, when you have something important to say?Having the mother number would just be a backup plan.

Plus, why is such a big deal having the number? Not every relation betwenn man and woman has to be sexual, you know

I'm not saying relationships between men and woman are all sexual. I have lots of female friends, and my girlfriend has a lot of male friends. I'm just saying "to get a hold of your kid" is not really a great answer. If your kid is old enough to be out with friends (and I take it that the friend is not a mutual family friend as would the case be for a 5 or under child) it is a good idea for them to have a phone. That's just good parenting.

I dotn quite agree with that.Sometimes there is no need, since you would have already the parents friend phone(both the dad and mom), so its not completely necessary.(It was like this my whole childhood). And I mean, usually when you are little, the parents end up knowing each others and may end up being friends, so thats and extra layer of safety.Plus sometimes the family dont have that extra cash to buy a phone for the kid.Its not that cheap to buy a decent phone for someone who is not *really* going to use it.
