Part of me wants to protest at the OP, but another part of me knows very well that he really has a point.

What I don't like about the talk about the current wave of migration here in Germany for example is the fact that the "Gutmenschen" treat those migrants as a homogeneous mass. To them, every migrant coming here is now a uniform "refugee", unwilling to differentiate between people actually seeking for asylum, people fleeing from war (which, despite what most people believe, is NOT a valid reason for asylum, according to international law), and people simply coming for economic reasons, to improve their economic situation.

The good news is - there is a simple solution to solve a major part of the problem: Do not allow "refugees" to select their destination country themselves. While that won't put "true refugees" off, who are fleeing from actual wars with a kind of "all I want is to be out of the war zone in my home country, absolutely any place is better" attitude, it is a major show-stopper for people who are really just interested in going to a few very rich countries like Germany, Sweden etc.
There's no good reason why non-european migrants should have better opportunities than even the europeans themselves: These are born into a european nation randomly, without having a choice at birth, and they cannot simply migrate to another european country of their choice if they prefer to live there; there are still major (mostly economic) obstacles to this, despite the open inner borders within the EU.

BTW, I do not condemn all those north africans trying to go to certain european countries, simply for economic reasons. I would do just the same if I were them!
