this. practically every female friend I have kills soooo much time browsing on Youtube, its just genearlly they're more likely to be watching documentaries or a vlog on a topic they prefer. obviously you don't want to generalize entirely, but it is what it is
I do feel like the huge amount of chicks trying to cash in on being like 'gamer girls' on things like Twitch maybe has led casual gamers to think that there are more female gamers than their really are. Generally guys are going to fill up forums like this with dedicated conversation
its like if you've ever been to dedicated video game convention (not necessarily a cosplay one), there will be a huge proportion of dudes. which is totally fine of course! its definitely a positive sign though that you do see more chicks getting into gaming than maybe in the past.
