They ARE losing momentum and it's very telling. When you think about it, many people (not me) have said it's the power differences that have helped Sony, so it follows that the promise of an XB1 with more power than the next iteration of the PS4 will likely affect XB1 sales more than the PS4.

Power alone doesn't sell.

PS4 is the first console to sell the most being the most powerful, ever.

The PS4 got the sales lead for several factors, being the most powerful was one of them, but together with being the cheaper one as well, when you have power and price advantage the only other thing that matter is line up, which the PS4 have the upper hand just as well, not to say thr media disaster the XBO suffered for thsir anti-consumers plans announcement.

People already forgot the anti-consumers thing, it cooled down completely by now, but a XBO upgrade being stronger than a PS4 upgrade won't change anything, unless they have at least also the price advantage, maybe not even then, PS4 already has the install base advantage, PS4 had the line up advantage, PS4 won't be beaten no matter what anymore, once it's established and have the line up, it's settled, PS1 and PS2 had the line up and not the power and it proved the point, videogame systems sell because of videogames, afterall.

So unless the new XBO is cheaper than the NEO, there is not even a chance, even if it's cheaper as well it may not change the tides, as the games are coming non-stop to the Sony system now, PS may take a while but when it starts delivering it doesn't stop, the 360 had both the price and line up advantages over the PS3, as wrll almost a power parity, but once PS3 took the line up advantage for itself it took the lead.

IMO, there is just no comeback, the upgraded versions may boost XBO sales, but there is just mo stopping the PS4 anymore, would need a new system altogether running games PS4 just can't (what will be hard with the NEO) so they are exclusive by default to change anything.

NEO is supposedly coming earlier as well as delivering VR earlier, plus the line up going strong from the get go with things like TLG, GTS, Horizon, etc, I don't see things changing at all, it'll possible just make the PS4 lead increase even more.

I don't want to derail th thread but I need to reply here...

I think it will be extremely difficult for Xbox to increase market share from now on... all games from PS4 on are going to be forward compatible as well as PSVR and peripherals. All social, trophies and subscriptions go forward also.

Next if we look at exclusives and first party studios, there is no contest especially with Xbox exclusives going to PC from now on....

Funny that you mentioned that people had forgotten about the PR disaster of 2013 because I am still seeing these issues with Xbox, they just closed down several studios, didn't sell the studio cause they wanted the IP and did not allow non-white male on the cover of their game..... I doubt the drm is forgotten and if they got the chance it would certainly be implimented.

That is my take on it anyway.

PSNeo also has a year headstart and there could be another PS soon after Xbox scorpio launches if power is an issue but I don't think anyone will go for scorpio except the xbox faithful.

I suspect sales in this thread over the coming weeks and months will reflect this.
