Depends on what Nintendo is bringing to the party. If it is just a new underpowered console (special control function or not) that developers will be able to ignore by saying they can't port it over because it is too weak, then yeah Nintendo is in bad shape.

If it is a hybrid device that will appeal to the Japanese handheld market and act as a successor to the 3DS with the ability to play games on the big screen they will be fine.

If it is something completely new and revolutionary, they will be fine.

Time will tell, I just hope no matter what, they are smarter with the launch titles and those they partner with. Although the only way I see Nintendo regaining stable third party support with Western developers is if the NX has the ability to play games from the Steam market out the gate or if it is bastard Windows 10 based love system of Microsoft and Nintendo teaming up to try to win the gaming market in both regions from Sony's resurgence with the PS4.
