And there's also software that doesn't take advantage of PC's extra power like ports of questionable quality, remember how that turned out for Quantum Break ? (Those GTX 970's will never be the same again after getting humiliated by what looks like an HD 7770 equivalent.)
Moral of the story is that you need both in the end ...
Taking one extreme over the other at the end of the spectrum simply isn't good no matter how you see it ...
