Yeah that's really been the problem, I've been playing on computers since they were on giant floppy disks and have a rig prepared for VR, but he doesn't have a PC whatsoever. I've actually been lobbying him for ages to get one though and, with the hardware I've just replaced, I can almost construct him a quality PC with what I removed lol... If he'd just commit to about $300s of spending we could finish it and he'd be good to go for most games.

That's always been my problem though, I've never had a friend who actually maintained a gaming rig. I don't blame them as its expensive, but our options have always been console based, and for the first time in a long time that suddenly feels rather limiting as far as Co-op is concerned.

All he has to do is invest for now and he won't/shouldn't need to tinker until a few years later or at least possibly replacing one component or two if he wants to.

It all depends on what your wallet will allow really, they can be expensive if you truly want your build to be or it can be as cheap as chips but suffering at the cost of visuals and maybe even performance. There is a dude over on youtube called "cult of Mush" who creates PC gaming vids weekly as well as dishing out hardware deals/PC builds on a monthly basis for those wishing to make a new rig or find good hardware deals. There are also sites like PC Parts picker where you can build a rig based on the parts you want and choose the beter deals along with the site making sure to let you know that the parts all work and which part won't work (which I find pretty neat).

I'd say for myself that I don't feel limited on what I game on but more in terms of my taste. I love C&C style RTS titles for example but these days there are far less quality titles that play exactly like C&C that do really well and get me on board, but that's due to the general decline of genre in general, these days there are far more 4x/turn based non base building strat games than there used to be 5-10 years ago. I do at times blame my specific taste but at the same time I have tried to get into other genres and types of games but they just don't click with me and I just end up waiting to see what takes my fancy/comes my way.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
