The reboot was Unchartified, and I hate uncharted games. I haven't played the sequel and I don't intend to.

Tomb Raider was its own thing, the original triology had such a great impact on me as a gamer. The reboot was definitely not what I wanted or expected. People seem to have forgetton how huge those games were, on hardware with extremely limited power. I expected the original ideas to be improve and expanded, but I got a linear game that pretends to be not so linear, handholding, popups telling me there a SECRET Tomb close to where I am standing, and mainly a third person shooter.

Here is a reminder of the original TR games:

People used to argue that the original Uncharted is another Tomb Raider with a male character, they couldn't be more wrong. The only similarity was the similar environment..... until the reboot happened.

Yeah..... Tomb Raider sucked (in my opinion) back then. I can't deny it. I bought them all. It was the definition on an annual game that lacked polish.  Of the originals, I only really enjoyed 1, 2, and TLR but I'm not even sure i enjoyed them . I just forced my way through them. Angel of Darkness was the nail in the coffin.

I jumped for joy when Tomb Raider Legend came out. That was "Tomb Raider Unchartified" in my opinion and it came out BEFORE Uncharted! Bought it and 100% it for PS2, Xbox 360, and PSP.

Did you play anniversary? That was a great remake of the original Tombraiders.  Legend was ok, anniversary was finally back to greatness.
The reboot wasn't Tombraider, it was FC3 with a female lead. That was still quite enjoyable, just not Tombraider. And tbh FC3 was better although the pacing suffered in the second half. Uncharted wasn't Tombraider either, way too much shooting and no path finding whatsoever. The prince of persia trilogy was closer to TR than Uncharted.

Uncharted 4 improves on the path finding, although mostly used for stealth gameplay and the occasional collectable. Figuring out how to progress through a complicated level for an hour or more is not allowed anymore today. I seem to be in the minority too for liking the water temple in OOT :) I still remember levels like The cistern from the original TR, I doubt I'll remember any layouts from U4 in a year. I can hardly recall anything of the TR reboot either. Luckily we have easy ways to make screenshots nowadays!
