I know people have opinions but I can't really fathom how somebody could honestly call Tomb Raider and its sequel "bad".

Well, we already had a lot of discussions about the reboot, so I'm not going to start a new full list, but IIRC (played it a long time ago) : really bad (and predictable) story and characters, Lara and her ridiculous "character development" (and I'm really nice to use that word) included, exaggerated "gritty" setting and dialogues, useless puzzles, ultra-repetitive gunfights with only 3 or 4 different AI behaviors and always the same arenas, forced and useless QTE and set sequences with death porn, even repetitive chapters (infiltration, gunfight, everything burns and you get out in an explosion, one of your friends dies, and you start again), and let's not talk about the end of the game... (I'm still mad at the huge monsters that you fight only once with a QTE...) The only "good" things (and "average" would be a much better word) were the bits of customization and exploration.

I'm not saying that the sequel is bad. I'm saying that IMO the reboot was bad or at least a very average game overhyped (so I was really disappointed when I finally played it), and almost all the reviews I've seen about the sequel said something like "It's really close to the reboot, if you liked the reboot you'll like this one, otherwise...". So I'm pretty sure that I won't find the sequel good if I ever play it.
