People will get bored and maybe go outside and buy some junk food to reconnect to the rest of the human society. Wii will then be a major fad :) Wii fit will become what every other wonder exercise equipment becomes... in the cupboard and forgotten. Let the fad countdown begin :D

Let me give you a little news flash. I am mostly interested in Wii Fit because the balance board makes it a uniquely incredible instrument for balance training. I’m 63, like most people 50+ my balance basically sucks mostly because we don’t use it enough compared to children who ride bikes and play games that use balance. This lack of good balance is the leading cause of disability and the number 1 household injury. Breaking a hip when you’re a senior is no joke because there is a very real chance you will never walk unassisted again. According to the head of physical therapy at the major teaching hospital where I work., not even a well equipped gym has anything equivalent and even for a hospital balance equipment is extremely expensive. They are getting several Wii Fits to use in physical therapy.

So NO, I cannot get this balance training just by going outside or even by joining a gym. I can realistically only get it from Wii Fit. Now figuring I’m never going to get younger, so this problem will never go away, but I can fix it for $90 and play a fun game a couple times a week, you can bet your sweet ass it is NOT going to wind up in the closet.

A fad? You say yes. Major teaching hospitals say no. Who should I believe? You are grossly underestimating the genius behind Wii Fit.
