It's okay to skip a majority of them. I know because I've had no choice but to skip them. When I had started playing, I had the crappiest TV money could buy. It was so blurry, I couldn't see anything. I couldn't read text so I didn't know about the quests, nor did I know about Gem Crafting, nor did I know that I could use instant transport to other areas. I WALKED BACK EVERY STEP!!! But now I'm about 48 hours in at level 65 and I'm doing fine.
I'm not going to tell you to skip them because you might get a lot out of them. There are tons of them to do and you'll get tons of money and EXP as you get later in the game. Ultimately, it won't kill you to skip them.
