SAMOROST 3 "SOUND DESIGN" VIDEO REVEALS THE MAGIC BEHIND THE MUSIC

http://www.pcgamer.com/samorost-3-sound-design-video-reveals-the-magic-behind-the-music/

Samorost 3, Amanita Design's latest adventure/puzzler/bizarre digital toy, is a very musical game, but not in the sense of something you'd sit down and sing along with. There are clarinets and cellos, yes, but also high-strung devils, sonorous space salamanders, choral termites, sad spirits, and a host of other creatures, all giving voice to their own unique, and generally very odd, sounds and songs. And yet the way most of those sounds were made really isn't all that unusual at all.

AN UNRAVEL SEQUEL IS ON THE WAY

http://www.pcgamer.com/an-unravel-sequel-is-on-the-way/

Unravel is the yarn-based puzzle-platformer—which, let's be honest, is quite the genre—didn't quite live up to my hopes for it (which were admittedly quite high). Nonetheless, it was pretty good stuff—and good enough, EA announced today, to warrant a sequel.

>>Hopefully, this time they'll be able to fix the wrongs of the first game.

http://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-warhammer-trailer-sums-up-the-entire-package/

Total War: Warhammer has a lot of different potential players. There are the Total War fans who don't know much about Warhammer, the Warhammer fans who have never played Total War, and the strategy and fantasy fans that have never played Warhammer or Total War, but find themselves intrigued by moving images of giants punching whole units of cavalry to death.

BATTLEFIELD 1 WORLD WAR 1 SETTING INITIALLY REJECTED BY EA BRASS

http://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-1-world-war-1-setting-initially-rejected-by-ea-brass/

The Battlefield series' surprise move to a World War 1 setting was initially a concern for EA Studios chief Patrick Soderlund, who feared that trench warfare "can't be fun to play".

>>Luckily, DICE has enough power at EA to change their minds.

EA EXPLAINS LACK OF CAMPAIGN IN STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT

http://www.pcgamer.com/ea-explains-lack-of-campaign-in-star-wars-battlefront/

A prominent criticism of Star Wars Battlefront was the lack of a singleplayer campaign. But in a recent investor broadcast, EA boss Patrick Soderlund said this was a conscious decision. They wanted to "launch the game side-by-side with the movie to get the strongest possible impact." That movie being, of course, The Force Awakens.

http://www.pcgamer.com/maize-is-an-absurdist-adventure-about-sentient-corn/

Every now and then a piece of email lands in my inbox that I cannot ignore. Like this, for instance: “Maize is a first-person adventure game about what happens when two scientists misinterpret a memo from the US Government and create sentient corn.” Sir, you have my attention.
