Hmmm. Maybe that's all it was. Seemed like more than just lighting, but perhaps it was only that.

I know, I thought the same thing so I went into photo mode and zoomed way in on Nate's face and sure enough all the detail is there. The light just doesn't hit it the same way it does in the cutscenes.
