yes they do have the same panels. However the contrast ratio and brightness and sharpenss are far better on the samsung. 1500:1 v 3000:1 soon new model will be 8000:1 (this is for the 26inch models). From memory the 40inch 1080p samsung has a contrast ratio of 15000:1 etc...
