The AV Club is one of my favorite review sites out there, though primarily for movie and DVD reviews, as well as their features and interviews. But they've been reviewing video games for a couple of years now, and they usually have interesting takes on games. It helps that they're not one of the "big" reviewers and as such (as has been discussed in recent times) they're not beholden to VG publishers (you rarely get conflict of interest problems in any of their reviews, whethor it's movies, books, music or video games--often an intereview subject that week or a movie being advertised will get a mediocre review). They previously gave Assassin's Creed a B, and GTAIV an A. Their issues with the game are pretty different from the types of issues you normally see with reviews, which is a bit refreshing in my opinion. Any thoughts? |
