Star Trek Online had a very good system back when it launched on the PC for instancing out portions of the server hardware, it would only accomodate resources to create a new instance of each zone if there was enough players to cause overflow on their first instance of it, worked really well for making sure no where ever got too crowded but also from a resource point of view I'd think it worked wonders for keeping costs down to basically only have instances of area's running while there was players to accomodate them.
I couldn't imagine an MMO like this working Xplatform though... maybe between one of the consoles and the PC like with DCU-Online but really this would be a strange title (small scale) to allow such a massive thing happen as pvp vs X1 and PS4 fans. |
Your probably right but lets hold a little hope for a combined console server :)
