I think the only way Ocarina of Time will ever be bested is if the developers stop trying to best. Constantly setting out making a new Zelda game with the intention of it being "better than OOT" actually ends up stifling proceedings in my opinion. Twilight Princess, for example, I feel is an incredible game worthy of its own merit, but in parts tried so hard to be as good as or better than its grandfather that it's own potential was stifled.

Majora's Mask didn't try and compete with OOT and because of this we got one of the most enigmatic and unique games ever created. Wind Waker too was its own "person" so to speak, not trying to compete, and again because of this we had an incredible and unique adventure. Zelda games generally represent absolute excellence in their genre, and whilst improvements can always be made, these games are so lovingly crafted it's hard to not at least enjoy the experience.

With the debut of the new Zelda, I hope to find that I'm playing a game that has grown into itself rather than a game trying to live up to the memory of its distant relative.
