It's relevant because Nintendo's fanbase is shrinking and once these Nintendo fans get another company's system and see the huge amount of games to choose from, next time around they skip the Nintendo system altogether.

No, come on.

Skipping the next Nintendo system means skipping out on the real reason anyone should be buying Nintendo hardware to begin with: Nintendo IPs.

Some gamers will grow out of them. Some may go back into them when they have kids. Regardless, there's always going to be a fanbase for Nintendo IP games sure as there will always be a market for Disney animated films.

If anyone is still buying Nintendo consoles for the fantastic 3rd party support after the Wii, I don't know what to tell them. Adjust your expectations in line with reality?

I'm not trying to be mean here, but there is such a thing as making informed decisions as a consumer based upon the volumes of information available.

Excellent point here. Nintendo is not doomed. There will always be a market for Nintendo's games.

But Nintendo systems need to appeal to a mass market audience similar to Disney animated films. That's why when I see all the rumors about how the NX will have Zen architecture with Polaris gpu graphics I just shake my head. That system would cost $500 bucks. The mass market won't pay that much for a Nintendo system. And I know Nintendo knows this to.

So the million dollar question is, what is the NX?

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!
