Exactly, PCs already outclass consoles

Or *still* outclass consoles with regard to gaming (well at least it seems Oblivion on a high specced PC). Once game engines start to make use of the SPEs there are enormous oppertunities to outshine even top PCs with regard to game complexity and performance.

You could compare this with early Atari ST ports to the Amiga, being a little better on the Atari ST. But later down the road with developers taking advantage of the custom chips completely crushed anything the Atari ST could do with regard to game complexity and performance as well as audio and graphics.

1080p + 7.1 surround audio I think is good enough for the foreseeable future.

 Give me a break.

The SPEs are similar to the shaders in GPUs, only a bit more flexible. They were never designed to do physics, AI, ect but graphics. Even if they were used for that role in conjuction with the RSX, you still couldn't get performance anywhere near an 8800 or 2900. By the time developers start to take advantage of the SPEs, chips like K8L will be matured and at a decent pricepoint.

But if you want to buy into the Sony hype, who am I to stop you?
