The GTX 1080 was always out of the question for me, as it was going to be too pricey for me, but the 1070 isn't too bad. Althought it's better to wait until we get some reviews to see their performance and tech analysis to make a decision.
And of course, it's always a good idea to see what the competition has in its hands as well.
@Basil: Your future looks quite expensive! 
. But building your PC next year will have its own advantages. I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia does something similar to what they did with the first Kepler cards, the 680/670, and rebrand them early next year to the 1170/1160 when the big Pascal comes out, Of course, at a lower price.
