E3 is a risk. Put on a big show but if it doesn't tick the boxes you risk getting hate for it. Look at Nintendo's last. They would have been better off just using the competition thing they had to show off a few games and not doing e3 in any form.

Nintendo's last e3 presser was bad though. That's entirely on them.

Their last e3 direct haven't been much to write home about either.

True, their show wasn't the best, but that only matters because it's an e3 show and pr wise e3 is like putting all your eggs in one basket when the world has moved on.

Nintendo's consoles don't get much third party and are on both their way out so it would never have been the good year for them, but:

If they had kept starfox a secret. If we hadn't got such a good mario maker demonstration the day before. If they had shown more games such as bravely default 2 and errr Paper Mario. :P

That is all their fault, but this should be a trivial judgement issue that doesn't get blown out of proportion. Other games can be easily be revealed at a later date. It gets blown out of proportion though for no other reason than it being E3.
