Sport is different now for many reasons, tactics evolve, player development, training methods, diet etc along with convenient travelling and such make it easier for teams to play away compared to what it was when the rule was set. Original reason for it was away matches being so hard to play teams would just defend, I think home advance is not so significant anymore. You're the one coming up with all the society and mentality nonsense. There is no need for the rule anymore and I'm surely not the only one with this opinion.

Your second opinion on the other hand is very valid, but like I wrote before, I think goals scored should be the deciding factor, not consistency. Teams might have to play their away matches in different conditions, goal = goal is fair game. Like boxing, every hit should count but all the hits being equal in points. Because like I said, I don't like the idea of rule forcing tactics to score more goals than opponent when it's in fact a tie. I wrote before, when teams are happy with 0-0 home result, something is off. Their opponent is at disadvantage despite making good job at keeping clean sheets at away game they had to play first.

Teams already play defensively or park the bus in certain situations and maybe they would grind out results a bit more, On the other hand, there still hasn't been the ultimate tactic to win and it evolves. Once PtB is effectively countered, it's time for something else to succeed. I would be interested to try it and see how it goes, you come off as you know the truth of how it would play out. Don't worry about my entertainment, I'm good watching PtB tactics even if I don't like it 😋

Tactics evolve because of changes in the games like this rule, playing away from home is still just as hard as before, the reasons most teams attempt any type of offence is because now the's a risk if they're trying to bank it on home performance and the away goal is a strong mark towards the performance count, it's the most important goal scored outside of a international tournament as a result and becomes a carrot in forcing teams out their shells.

It's a tie in goals scored but not in performance though, fact is if you don't want to lose because of an away goal you have to perform well over two legs and that's what it comes down to. The point in Boxing is that the hits in boxing are equal in points but not how they're thrown, Mayweather is one of the most hated boxers because he mastered the art of the sport in this regard dodging hits while landing them as opposed to brawling like some of his opponents try to. The away goal like it or not is one of football's equivalent to this, a bigger stronger Boxer will have the weight and power advantage much like the home team have the home advantage, the other Boxer knows his punches still count despite his disadvatage much like the away team knows their goal counts to their performance. I'd understand your view more if it was only one leg played but since both teams get the chance at benefitting from it I see little issue tbh.

More teams would PtB away that's what it comes down to as that's what the rule discourages, same way that if the weren't rules like last man gets a red card if he commits a foul in a goal scoring opportunity the would be more fouls in those situations, same way that if the wasn't the offside rule more play would be long ball to someone up the field. It may suck to go out due to the rule but it has its place.
