You could stick with Socket 1155 and go Ivy bridge instead, find an old 3770K second hand, Sandy will clock higher though.

With that said... A 2500K should have a few years of life left in it still, games are starting to become better threaded and better optimized thanks to Direct X 12, which lessens the need for the best CPU.
Sink everything into the GPU and if you haven't... An SSD.
