One is the first competitive Nintendo game, some would consider ever (being they consider Smash a party game). It certainly is Nintendo's first real jump into online multiplayer. The other is the first creator game of a major ip.

Creator games already existed, competitive multiplayer is over a decade old. Wouldn't really consider that a new idea.
