The news that MS was dropping the Xbox already was shocking to many Xbox owners at that time. It was not as big of deal comparitively, because MS was a newcomer still. The internet was around, but the massive amount of websites and forums today give people a lot more visible place to show their displeasure. I'm not old enought, i only had 5 years old when Xbox 360 launched, and Internet was something niche in my country until 2008-2010.
