You got me with your sample of those three well know Nintendo enthusiasts.

You win.

you've presented absolutly no argument other than your ussual "i'm right so you're wrong" statements.

both of these are entertainment devices.  both of these are gaming devices. they absolutely compete with each other because everyone has a limited buget of money, time, and shelf space.  when i find a really good book i don't buy as many games because i'm spending my free time elsewhere,.. it is just common sense.

most consumers are not as entrented in console loyalty as you are.  most consumers rely on world of mouth.  most consumer want to buy systems their friends have too.  psvr now has 3-4 months of time on the market without NX as a competitor.  if psvr is a good product and has fantastic word of month and builds a sizable demand those consumers probably aren't buying an NX a few months later.  as we have seen with wiiU and vita,.. first year sales are critical for a system.  if people don't buy it than developers don't develop for it or only give it late ports when they prioritize larger markets first.  LTD sales absolutly are effected by that kind of support.

the timing of a launch and the competitive landscape isn't the 100% only factor of influence that will determine the sucess of a platform but you'd have to be a fool to think it has absolutely no influence at all.  1st year sales determine just how viable the platform will be and it becomes almost impossible to change your fortunes after that.  having a successful launch is absolutely crucial.
